Role:
We are looking for a talented and creative UI/UX Artist to help design, own and deliver visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces, both for Flix’s own internal projects and our high-profile co-development partners. As a key member of our UI team, you will utilise your technical understanding and visual design expertise to balance aesthetics and usability, creating interfaces that are both visually engaging and intuitive for players. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, solid work ethic and a positive, proactive attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Create visually stunning and intuitive user interfaces for AAA game projects, following best practices in user-centred design – from conception to implementation in-engine.
- Create mock-ups and prototypes using industry-standard design tools, effectively communicating UI concepts, interactions and user flows.
- Create polished UI assets, iconography and supporting visual elements suitable for implementation in-game.
- Follow and uphold UI style principles, maintaining consistency across the project and ensuring content aligns with the game’s aesthetic, branding and gameplay requirements.
- Actively participate in UI reviews, giving and incorporating feedback to improve the quality, consistency and usability of the user experience.
- Follow best practices for UI asset creation, implementation and optimisation, ensuring interfaces maintain visual quality, usability and performance across target platforms.
- Pro-actively communicate and collaborate across discipline teams to help uphold the game’s quality bar, design principles and delivery requirements.
- Work closely with your Leads and the Production team to help prioritize tasks and feedback, raise issues, and deliver high-quality work on time.
Essential:
- Proven experience as a UI Artist in games, with a strong portfolio demonstrating excellent visual design skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
- Strong understanding of the UI Art creation and implementation pipeline for game engines, particularly Unreal Engine.
- High proficiency in relevant industry-standard software, such as Photoshop, Figma, and Unreal Engine’s UMG.
- Ability to create and implement UI animations and transitions within a game engine.
- Demonstrated core UI Art skills, including hierarchy, composition, readability, usability and accessibility.
- Experience designing for multiple platforms and input methods.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work positively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage your time effectively and own end-to-end delivery of your work.
- A passion for gaming and a drive to deliver visually stunning and captivating gaming experiences.
Desirable:
- Experience with UI requirements for console certification.
- An eye for graphic design principles, branding and visual identity development.
- Skills in adjacent creative disciplines such as illustration, motion graphics, animation or 3D content creation.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and a passion for making gaming accessible.
- Previous shipped title(s) within a relevant game art production pipeline.
