UK Remote or West Midlands-based / Full-Time Contractor

Role ID: FLX-R104

Role:

The QA Tester supports the quality and stability of game features across internal projects and co-development partnerships. The role focuses on identifying defects, producing clear reports and verifying fixes to help the team deliver a consistent player experience.

The role will initially support a shared-world multiplayer adventure, with a particular focus on PlayStation 5 testing and acting as a point of contact for QA activity on that platform. Responsibilities and project assignments will evolve as existing projects develop and new projects are commissioned.

Working closely with QA colleagues, Engineering, Design and Production, you will carry out assigned testing, investigate reported issues and communicate findings. As the platform point of contact, you will help consolidate testing updates, highlight issues requiring attention and coordinate follow-up with the appropriate team members.

The role requires attention to detail, clear communication and a methodical approach, alongside a willingness to learn and seek guidance when investigating unfamiliar issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned test cases and exploratory testing across gameplay features, content and game systems.
  • Support PlayStation 5 testing, checking functionality, stability and the player experience on the platform.
  • Act as a point of contact for PlayStation 5 QA queries, sharing testing updates and directing issues to the appropriate colleagues.
  • Identify, reproduce and document defects with clear steps, expected and actual results, and relevant supporting evidence.
  • Record the build version, platform and test conditions needed to support investigation.
  • Verify fixes and carry out regression testing to check that changes have not introduced related issues.
  • Support multiplayer test sessions, working with other testers to reproduce issues involving multiple players.
  • Maintain accurate test results and help keep assigned test cases up to date.
  • Communicate blockers, incomplete coverage and significant defects promptly to QA leads and Production.
  • Collaborate with developers to clarify reports and provide additional information during investigation.

Essential:

  • 2 years’ relevant experience in games QA or software testing.
  • Practical experience testing games on PlayStation 5.
  • Understanding of functional, exploratory and regression testing.
  • Ability to follow test instructions and document results accurately.
  • Ability to produce clear, reproducible bug reports and distinguish expected behaviour from defects.
  • Experience using issue-tracking tools to report defects, update findings and track fixes.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to reproducing intermittent issues.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to provide useful platform testing updates.
  • Ability to organise assigned work, collaborate with colleagues and seek support when needed.

Desirable:

  • Experience testing online multiplayer games or titles with ongoing content updates.
  • Familiarity with platform-specific testing scenarios, including user accounts, controllers, connectivity and suspend/resume behaviour.
  • Awareness of console certification requirements and their relevance to testing.
  • Experience capturing screenshots, video or logs to support defect investigation.
  • Experience contributing to test cases or checklists.
  • Experience testing across additional console or PC platforms.
  • Previous shipped title(s) or experience supporting testing for a released game.
