Role:

As a Lead QA Tester, you will lead quality-assurance activity across a technically complex, continuously evolving game. You will define effective test approaches, maintain clear visibility of product quality, and work closely with development and production teams to identify risks early, support release readiness, and ensure a reliable player experience across new features, updates, and online functionality.

Responsibilities:

  1. QA Leadership and Test Planning:
    • Lead the creation, maintenance, and execution of comprehensive test plans, ensuring appropriate coverage across features, systems, updates, and release candidates.
    • Set clear QA priorities, coordinate testing activity, and ensure risks, blockers, and quality concerns are identified and escalated promptly.
  2. Build Quality and Reporting:
    • Monitor build health, test progress, defect trends, and quality metrics, maintaining dashboards and reports that give the team clear, actionable visibility.
    • Work with engineering and production to investigate build issues, improve stability, and support informed release decisions.
  3. Functional, Regression, and Live Testing:
    • Oversee functional, regression, and exploratory testing across core gameplay, online functionality, updates, and player-facing systems.
    • Ensure fixes are appropriately verified and that new changes do not introduce unacceptable quality or stability risks.
  4. Collaboration and Process Improvement:
    • Partner with producers, designers, engineers, and QA colleagues to define quality expectations and build testing into development plans.
    • Improve QA processes, documentation, reporting, and knowledge-sharing practices, while providing guidance and support to testers.

Essential:

  • Strong experience leading QA activity for game-development projects.
  • Expertise in test planning, test-case design, defect management, regression testing, and release-readiness assessment.
  • Experience using dashboards, build statistics, and quality metrics to identify trends and communicate risks.
  • Strong understanding of build verification, functional testing, and live or online game testing.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented leadership style, with a focus on practical problem solving and continuous improvement.
